2010 WNYPLGA Team Championship

Congratulations to the Sheridan team of Mike Zimmer, Tim Dean, Jim Duggan, Jay Rimes, Dana Harrington, Norm Nieminen, Joe Roncone and Jeff Spriegel on blowing away the field in the WNY Public Links Golf Association's B Handicap Class Team Championship on Saturday July 17th at Harvest Hill.

Sheridan won by 10 strokes over teams from Hamburg, Hyde Park, Deerwood, Cazenovia, Dande Farms and South Park. Four 2-man teams per club play best ball and the top 3 best ball scores per team are used to determine final team scores.

The team of Tim Dean and Mike Zimmer won overall medalist honors with a even par 72 on a blustery day on the heather-lined Harvest Hill course - fitting since it was played during the British Open. 30-40 mph winds made the event one of the more interesting in recent memory.

Sheridan continued it's dominance of this event winning for the fifth consecutive year and a new plaque commemorating this year's winners will be added to the existing plaques that line the walls of the Sheridan Clubhouse.

The B team upheld the Sheridan tradition of being the only team tailgating after finishing and the last to leave the event. Locals noted hearing seeing golfers drinking beer, chanting 'we are Sheridan Park' periodically, and as one person put it "just generally being loud" well after other teams had left disappointed again.
